DoubleTree is now Pet-Friendly!
The DoubleTree by Hilton Asheville-Biltmore can now be enjoyed by furry friends as much as it is by their owners. Beginning March 1, the historic Biltmore Village property officially became a pet-friendly hotel, accepting guests wanting to include pets in their vacation plans. The DoubleTree joins the four other Biltmore Farms Hotels properties that welcome travelers and their pets to the Asheville area.
“As a General Manager who travels with his dog Ellie all summer long, I want to be sure our experience is one that welcomed pet owners with open arms,” stated DoubleTree General Manager Robert Foster. “There are so many places who claim to be ‘pet friendly’ who really miss the touch points I believe are important to someone traveling with a pet. Our team has really taken this to a completely new level that I believe will become the standard for our industry. We are very proud to be a pet-friendly hotel!”
In addition to the special treats and in-room amenities for guests and their pets, the DoubleTree will provide an area pet-friendly guide with recommendations for shopping and dining, as well as an on-property dog-walking area. The hotel asks that the pets stay 50 pounds or under. There is a small fee for animals staying the night, and pet-friendly rooms are treated for potential allergens to assure a comfortable stay for all guests.

Cooking at the Ramble with Chef Randy
This week, Hilton Asheville and roux executive chef Randy Dunn treated the kids at The Ramble to a GRRRRReat treat! He was the guest chef during their Young Chefs at The Ramble cooking class, a series open to Ramble youngsters in which they learn kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, cooking & baking techniques, presentation, table setting, and manners.
Chef Randy and the aspiring chefs cooked up one of his favorite breakfast creations from our breakfast menu: Tony’s French Toast, stuffed with strawberry jam and cream cheese and crusted with Frosted Flakes. The kids reaction: IT WAS GRRRREAT!!!! We are especially thankful to the Ramble staff for extending an invitation for us to participate in the Young Chefs program.
If you want to try this tasty breakfast treat, Chef Randy’s recipe is below:

Gingerbread Bread Pudding with Cranberries and White Chocolate

4 lg eggs lightly beaten
½ cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 t cinnamon
½ t ground ginger
Pinch of salt
2 cups milk
1 t vanilla extract
¾ cups dried cranberries
¾ cup white chocolate morsels
(butterscotch or toffee make great substitutions)
Method of Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- Butter a 1.5 qt baking dish
- Mix eggs, sugars, spices, salt, milk, and vanilla to combine
- Place cubes of cake in baking dish sprinkle with cranberries and morsels
- Pour custard Over and lightly press cake into mixture
- Let soak for 10 min at room temperature
- Bake uncovered for 35-45 min in center rack (ovens vary so check doneness with toothpick)
It is normal for it to rise during baking and then slightly fall when cooling.
